Best Practices from Soapbox Mailer: 3 Quick Mass Email Tips

By: Partner

Earlier this spring we ran a webinar series on fundraising, and as follow-up to last month's post on Best Practice in Online Donations from iATS, today we're pleased to share with you best practices in mass email, from Soapbox Mailer.

As described in our recent Email Service Providers Comparison Report,

"Soapbox Mailer by PICnet is an email platform built exclusively on the Salesforce platform (Force.Com) and must be used through Salesforce. The mailer is smartly built around Campaigns and Campaign Members. Fewer custom objects and statistics stored through custom Campaign Member fields means that your campaign management in Salesforce and your email marketing are tied directly together, and data storage is minimized. Developers and integrators take note - this is what good looks like!"

Additionally, Soapbox Mailer has social media integration and an affordable sliding scale fee structure.

With that, here are three simple tips from Tim Forbes of PICnet on how to make the most of mass email:

1. Be Concise.

Often times an email that is just two paragraphs or less is far better than one that says everything you might think you need to say.

2. Use a single call to action.

This is difficult for folks - but make sure you focus on the one thing you want them to click or do. This will be great in terms of increasing the overall campaign performance (since more people will be likely to take the desired action) and it will also make it easier to understand the data and ROI of an email.

3. Evaluate performance and use data to better inform your approach.

Don’t fall victim to the reactive routine of just writing an email, sending it, and moving on - all email tools have analytics and you can learn a lot by drilling down into things like social media metrics. You can email smarter and better if you learn from what has worked or not worked in the past.
