Track Two Consulting

Bridging the Digital Divide

Through the support of NGOs, our solution partners and organizations such as USAID, the track two program is designed to provide a cost sharing process that will reduce costs of travel, technology and consulting fees associated with a standard technology consulting project. The track two program allows organizations to adopt CRM and CMS technology that in most cases would be out of reach for most organizations in the developing world. We focus on the implementation of cloud computing technologies that reduces hardware, networking, upgrades and maintenance costs -- thereby reducing total cost of ownership. To learn more about cloud computing technologies in relation to government programs please visit apps.gov.

What are examples of previous track two consulting projects?

  • Newbiznet business development project (Ukraine). Supported by USAID.
  • Farmer to Farmer Program (Ukraine). Supported by Land O' Lakes.
  • Project Palestine (Palestine). Supported by Salesforce Foundation.
  • Project Patagonia (Patagonia). Supported by private foundations.
  • Outward Bound (Costa Rica). Supported by Outward Bound International.
  • AFS International (Argentinia). Supported by Salesforce Foundation.

How does the track two consulting program work?

  • Idealist Consulting gifts the cost of travel to host site.
  • Host provides room, board and translator (if needed).
  • Fees for services are provided by funders.

What is provided in a typical consulting engagement?

  • Business process review.
  • Selection of technology solutions.
  • Implementation of technology solutions.
  • Train the trainers.

Due to the interest in the track two consulting program, we select projects that are able to meet the following criteria:

  • Scalability: What is the impact of the consultation services, how many people are positively affected?
  • Preparation: Can the host provide basic support for the consultant? Is the host site safe enough to ensure the consultant is not in any danger? Is the basic hardware necessary to implement the required technology solutions provided?
  • Return: Does the overall cost of the project match the scalability of the project?
  • Need: Does the host truly require support? Is there a clear and present need for this support?
