Unlike NPSP, which was built on Salesforce’s traditional nonprofit data model using Household Accounts and Contacts, NPC leverages a different object structure optimized for nonprofit operations. For example, NPC uses Person Accounts, which center the individual—whether a donor, volunteer, or program participant—at the heart of an organization’s programs and services while still allowing for more complex relationships between individuals and organizations. This means your organization’s data will need adjustments to align with the new architecture. A structured data migration plan should include mapping legacy NPSP records to NPC objects, cleaning and deduplicating data, and testing migrations in a sandbox environment.
